“RMHC Atlantic wasn’t just helping Teddy, it was helping our whole family”

Dear RMHC Supporter,

Thank you for supporting Ronald McDonald House Charities Atlantic.

Your donations mean the world to families like mine. Because of your generosity, we’ve had a place to stay, a community to lean on, and now — because of you — a new House that’s bigger, brighter, and better for families across the Maritimes.

My name is Jacqueline, and I’m a proud mom to Claire and Teddy. Our journey with Ronald McDonald House began almost a decade ago when Teddy was born. He has cerebral palsy, dwarfism, along with various cognitive and learning disabilities. We have had to visit the IWK more times than I can count, driving over 400 kilometers each time. When we come to Halifax for care, we stay at the House. It’s been our home away from home, a place where we can rest, recharge, and feel supported through some of the hardest moments of our lives.

Not long after Teddy was born, Claire, our spirited and kind older daughter, began needing care, too. She also has dwarfism, like her brother, along with various other health conditions.

Suddenly, RMHC Atlantic wasn’t just helping Teddy, it was helping our whole family.

This is why I’m asking, will you make a donation today to help keep more families close to their sick children? Your gift will go twice as far. rcs construction, who built the new house, will match your gift, doubling your impact.

We made so many special memories at RMHC Atlantic. Claire climbed stairs for the first time, Teddy made his first best friend, and we shared countless meals and stories with other families. We have met families from New Brunswick, Prince Edward Island, Cape Breton – all across the Maritimes. Just like us, they needed a place to call home near their child’s medical care.

Thanks to donors like you, RMHC Atlantic now has a brand-new House for us to call home. We recently had our first visit to the new House and we were blown away. It is so beautiful, welcoming and special – it brought me to tears of happiness. Now, RMHC Atlantic’s new House has room for 36 families like mine.

Everything was so thoughtfully designed. It’s fully accessible for families like ours. It has private bathrooms, a dedicated space for siblings, cozy living areas, and so many upgrades that make staying far from home so much easier.

It is clear how much love and care your donations made possible.

Already, this new house means so much. I can picture the ease this new space will bring me and my family when we come for our medical appointments later this year. Teddy is especially excited about the new House. He is an outgoing boy, full of joy and known by just about everyone at the House.

The staff and volunteers adore him. I like to think he brings a little light wherever he goes. And now, with your help, that light will shine even brighter in a home built to meet families exactly where they are.

Please, give what you can today. Every gift helps. With RMHC Atlantic now serving double the number of families, the need for your support is greater than ever. Help us make this new House a true home.

With gratitude,

Jaqueline Randall
Teddy & Claire’s mom

P.S. Every time we stay at RMHC Atlantic, we’re surrounded by kindness—thanks to people like you. Now, with a beautiful new House serving more families, your support matters more than ever. Please give today and help more families feel at home when they need it most.

From the RMHC Atlantic Community, thank you for supporting Maritime families.

Doctors said she might never walk after they removed her sciatic nerve and muscles around the tumor. They even took nerves from lower in her leg and did a nerve graft to give her the best chance of leg function. Now, Peyton is trying to run, and it all started with her wanting to walk to “her room” at the Ronald McDonald House.

Finally, in July of this year, we celebrated Peyton’s last chemotherapy treatment and she got to ring the bell.

Everyone gathered, and as we stepped through the doors of the House, the loud cheers and the sheer joy on my daughter’s face marked it as one of the most significant moments in our lives. Later, a joyous celebration took place on that extraordinary day with our Ronald McDonald House family!
