Once you receive a referral to stay with us, here’s what you can expect:

A Welcoming Arrival

When your family arrives at Ronald McDonald House you will be welcomed by a helpful and friendly RMHC staff member or volunteer, who will check you in to your private room. If it is your first time staying with us you will be given a full tour of the House and have the opportunity to ask any questions.

The Comforts of Home

Our House helps to provide relief to families going through very difficult times by providing all the comforts of home while taking care of the “little things”, so that parents can spend more time caring for the most important thing… their sick child. Please note that the House is a residential facility. We do not have medical personnel on staff, nor do we offer child care. You can see everything the House provides to families by viewing our House Amenities.

Family and Friends

We know how important family and friend support is during a stressful time. All guest families can have visitors while keeping the comfort and safety of all guests and their children in mind. Visiting hours are between 9:00 a.m. and 9:00 pm, and visitors will need to sign in at reception and verify that they have not been exposed to any infectious diseases. They will be required to remain in the main floor common areas including the living room, dining room, kitchen and patio.

Meals

Some evenings, through our Home for Dinner Program, you will find a group of volunteers in the kitchen preparing dinner for the 18 families staying in the House. Although we would love to be able to provide all of your meals, you are responsible for purchasing and cooking your own food, unless there is a volunteer dinner group scheduled. It is the responsibility of each family staying in the House to tidy up after themselves.

Activities

The House also offers daily recreational programs for families throughout the week. Participating in programs is not only a great way to spend time together as a family, but it is also a great opportunity to connect with other families facing similar challenges. Nobody understands what you are going through quite like another family. A House Activities Schedule is posted every week at our House.

“I’ve stayed at other places, but they don’t have what Ronald McDonald House has. The playroom, the kitchen, the homemade meals – it’s a home away from home.

The people there are awesome. We couldn’t ask for more.”
