Celebrating our Volunteers!
Each year in April, during National Volunteer Month, Ronald McDonald House Charities® Atlantic hosts a Volunteer Appreciation Event to celebrate and recognize our incredible volunteers. Our volunteers are the backbone of our House and Family Room program – bringing energy, compassion, and integrity to their volunteer shift each and every week. We are extremely grateful to all of our volunteers for the significant role they play in the lives of our families. We always look forward to the opportunity to show them how much they are appreciated.
This year, for the first time, we hosted a murder mystery party at the Board Room Cafe which was transformed into ‘The Lady Lux Casino’. Fifty of our fabulous volunteers joined us in the role of patron or staff member. Everyone came in character – ready for an evening of eating, drinking, gaming and mystery. Our volunteers could place bets and win money (monopoly of course) while playing their character and getting to know the other characters. Through mingling and games of chance, the volunteers were to meet specific objectives in hopes of guessing the murderer at the end of the evening.
When the time came, all of the volunteers excitedly proposed their own theories and conclusions about who the murderer may be. Although many characters were accused of being guilty, in the end no one guessed the real culprit – our Family Room volunteer Dax Bourcier!
Overall, the evening was a huge success. It was great to see all of the volunteers enjoying themselves and having fun playing their characters, as well as spending time getting to know one another better. This night is always a favourite of our volunteers and we cannot wait to see what’s in store for next year’s event!
